History
Initially established to serve the needs of the Jamaican banana industry for shipping and logistical support within the United Kingdom it has, over the years, used this experience to develop and expand its activities.
At JP Logistics Solutions, we are very proud of our Caribbean heritage which started right back in the 1930’s. Although being largely based in the UK now, we are still Caribbean owned and part of Pan Jamaica Group, based in Kingston, Jamaica.

In 2006, JP acquired RAM Shipping, a company that specialised in all types of consolidated cargo across the whole of the English-speaking Caribbean. The consolidated arm of JP Shipping was renamed JP RAM Shipping. JP RAM shipping specialised in all cargos, but was especially tailored to the general public.
By the end of the 80’s, containerisation was the dominant method of shipping general cargo. Consequently, the loading of cargo was tending to move away from the ports. In response, JP Shipping invested in a dedicated consolidation operation in Central London.
In 1979 the shipping offices moved to Newport where they remain to this day.
The vessels were replaced and shipments to and from Jamaica resumed. During this time JP shipped to and from Jamaica from various UK ports including London (Royal Albert and Surrey Docks), Sheerness, Newport and Portsmouth.
Post War years
During the war years 3 out of the 4 ships were sunk. The surviving ship, the Jamaica Producer II, was almost sunk by a Stuka dive bomber in the English Channel that was shot down by the crew clipping the ship as it crashed into the water.
By the end of the 30’s, the original ships had been replaced by 4 wholly owned by JP. It was the first shipping line ever to be 100% Jamaican owned.
In the early 30’s, the Jamaica Banana Producers Steamship Company, started a shipping line consisting of four refrigerated ships: Jamaica Producer, Jamaica Merchant, Jamaica Planter and Jamaica Settler.
